Previous Chapter 24.D : Thomas the much married
Isaac (D68) was the third son of William D58(7)of Inglesham. He was baptised at Inglesham on 23 Decemeber 1781 at Inglesham. Like his elder brothers Samuel 'of Harrow' and Thomas 'the much married' he moves from Wiltshire to London at the start of the 19th century and from there to Leavesden, near Watford, in Hertfordshire.
Isaac is one the family dead ends. He appears to have travelled to London at about the same time as his brothers and marries Elizabeth MARTIN on 18 August 1810 at St Annes Soho. Elizabeth is probably the sister of Sarah MARTIN who later marries Thomas "the much married". Sarah is one of the witnesses at Elizabeth's marriage. The 1851 census gives Warfield in Berkshire as her birthplace.
Isaac and Elizabeth then live at Leavesden Farm in Hertfordshire, where Isaac becomes Farm Bailiff (from the 1851 census) though at the 1841 census he appears only as "Ag Lab". In "Aspects of 19th century Watford" published by the WEA the "farmer, owner or tenant" of Leavesden Farm is identifed as James BRUSH - but the source for this is given as the 1841 census - a misreading? The 1851 census gives his birthplace as Engilsham in Wiltshire which is just the sort of confirmation we like.
Isaac and Elizabeth appear to have had no children but to have some sort of special relationship with Isaac's nephew Isaac James, the son of Isaac's brother Thomas by his third marriage to Sarah Martin. If the assumption of Elizabeth and Sarah being sisters is correct then he was a nephew independently to each of them. When Thomas marries for the fourth and final time in 1840 to Elizabeth CAVE (nee FORRESTER, Isaac is a witness. Elizabeth CAVE seems to have had links in her own right to the Watford/Leavesden/KIngs Langley/Abots Langley/St Albans area - before her marriage to Thomas and after hs death.
Isaac dies in 1852 and his widow Elizabeth in 1856; both are buried at St Laurence church at Abbots Langley. Him on 28 March 1852 and her on 27 July 1856. In Elizabeth's will there are bequests to Isaac's sisters and their children in Wiltshire but the residue of the estate goes to Isaac James - the son of Thomas and Sarah. In her 1855 will Elizabeth says he is residing with her at Leavesden. At the 1861 census it is Isaac James living at Leavesden Farm as Farm Steward Bailiff with wife Harriet, who he had married on Christmas day 1845 in Camberwell, and his children.
William (D69), born 1785, was the youngest son of William D58(7) of Inglesham. Like all his brothers he moved from Wiltshire to London at the start of the 19th century. He married Charlotte LAWRENCE in 1813 at St George Hanover Square.
All four of their children are born at Pinner, where the baptism records identify him simply as a servant. The closeness of Pinner to Greenhill at Harrow can be seen in the map alongside.
Margaret 1814 Emma 1815 Henry Moolder 1816 William 1819In 1837, in Lambeth, Margaret marries her cousin William Morris Brush (1812), the son of her uncle Thomas and Amey . The witness was Samuel Brush. Possibly Samuel of Harrow, also an uncle, or her cousin Samuel the letter sorter.
By 1838 William has moved to Chelsea and is a cheesmonger at 1 Strewan Place. He is there still at 1841.
In 18 William(1819) - marries Frances. At 1861 census William (1819) and family are in Battersea. One of the children is Henry(1852). In 1871 he enlists inthe Royal ArtilleryIsaac: FWB 68, Gc 2104
