Chapter 18.B

Isaac of Brinkworth
1724 - 1753

Isaac, the second son of Thomas of Sherston and Brinkworth, was baptised at Westonbirt on 15 June 1724. He was my 6G-Grandfather.

He was a pivotal figure in the tree descending from William of Dufton. He is one of only two men from his Generation bearing the BRUSH name and the only one who has sons.

He only just manages this! He marries in 1745 and then dies, aged just 28, in 1753. His marriage on 3 December 1745 at Brinkworth was to Mary COVE.

There are a number of possible alternatives for the baptism and parentage of Mary COVE. The nearest to Brinkworth was at Purton in 1721 but there are credible alternatives.

They had four children, all baptised at Brinkworth:

William, on 08 Feb 1746. His story continues in Chapter 23.A , where he becomes identified as William 'of Inglesham'

Thomas, on 25 Jan 1748 (new style). His story continues in Chapter 23.B , where he becomes identifed as Thomas 'of Swindon'

Ruth, bap 22 Apr 1750, buried 10th February 1750/51

Elizabeth, on 18 Aug 1752. , married to John ISLES or ILES of Highworth, Wiltshire on 12 October 1778 (or 1776?) at Faringdon in Berkshire? See chapter 23.A .

Isaac was buried on 4 March 1753 at Brinkworth. The register explicitly identifies the date as N.S. - new style.
