Section 3.C.2 Loose Ends at 1604

This text roughly copied from 'BFBI 03 Tewkesbury to 1700 Draft15.docx' which is in folder 'BFBI now in BFBIweb'.

By early 1604 we have knowledge of at least 49 BRUSHes including 9 wives spanning four generations. There is nothing magic about 1604 but it seems as good a point to take stock as any. It marks the beginning of the Stuart period following the accession of James I in 160 . More directly it marks the start of a break in the baptism and burial registers at Tewkesbury. We have just 7 burials up to 1604. Five of these were within a 6 week period from March 1603 to April 1604 (remember - old style calendar) which appear to be the result of a plague outbreak. Pla ref . Six of the seven references are ambiguous. ( there had been a much bigger plague outbreak in 1591 when 560 died - in a town with a population around . 31 March 1596 Margaret, daughter of Richard. [ other deaths] The lack of marriage and burial records leaves a great many unresolved loose ends [Maybe omit or summarise the table] (birth dates c15xx are speculative as previously discussed, other birth dates are really baptism dates) Screenshot 2023-04-06 112913.jpg Screenshot 2023-04-06 113003.jpg Screenshot 2023-04-06 113052.jpg Screenshot 2023-04-06 113135.jpg
